BUTUAN CITY -- Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation (MMDC) has been awarded Top Remitting and Top Reporting Private Employer in Caraga Region by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth).

During the February 27 awarding ceremony here, PhilHealth also recognized Mechelle F. Almeda from MMDC's Human Resources department as one of the region's Outstanding PEERs for her work in promoting the empowerment of employee-members on their rights and benefits as PhilHealth members.

PEERs, or PhilHealth Employer Engagement Representatives, serve as important links between companies and PhilHealth. They manage the registration and updating of membership records of employees, premium remittance and reporting using the Electronic Premium Remittance System.

In naming MMDC as a top regional employer, PhilHealth cited the company's commitment to ensure the correct and prompt remittance of its employees' premiums, including its counterpart shares.

It pointed out that the timely, accurate remittance and immediate reporting are key  to enable employees to enjoy the benefits and security that a PhilHealth member enjoys.

For Almeda, the award – covering 2016 and 2017 – reflects MMDC's standing both as a responsible employer and a responsible miner.

“I’m grateful that MMDC's effort to advance the welfare of its employees have been recognized by PhilHealth-Caraga," Almeda said. "Being named as a Top Company in the region challenges us to work more so that our employees can take advantage of the benefits that they truly deserve."
