MMDC Scholar Jennybren: From the House Help to Teacher
As the youngest child, Jennybren Tating witnessed her older siblings forming families of their own without getting education. Life was tough; as the family’s only breadwinner, her mother could barely feed them three times a day.
Jennybren vowed to make something of her life. She worked as a house help to finish high school. When it was time for college, she turned to Marcventures Mining and Development Corporation (MMDC) for financial support.
Jennybren is one of the hundreds of MMDC scholars who now enjoy gainful employment in their respective professional fields.
Jennybren earned a degree in Secondary Education—major in Mathematics—at the Surigao del Sur State University (SDSSU) in 2012. She now enjoys her teaching job at the Cantilan Pilot School.
MMDC's scholarship program, which has been changing lives for over a decade now, currently has 134 full-time scholars enrolled in different colleges and universities in Mindanao, Visayas and Luzon.
